SURFER MAGAZINE VISITS
On March 1st, 2003, Surfer Magazine paid an unexpected visit to our modest little break. A slight swell was in the water, but for such prestigious guests to stop to take a peak at Sunset seemed quite out of the ordinary. Click here for the pics to prove it!

DISCUSSION FORUM
A new Discussion Forum is now up for everyone to enjoy. This forum has five different boards from which to choose, plus it has several new features to make the experience more enjoyable (such as the ability to add images and to track replies to your posts). I have also added a detailed discussion of the Unwritten Rules of Surfing, which you can see highlighted on the main page of the site.

NEW CHANGES
Thanks to feedback from many members and visitors, I have begun to implement some changes to the site. First, the daily report is now released to the general public at 10 AM each morning, while members get it at 7 AM. Second, the photo of Sunset on the main page is now updated once per day at 10 AM. Members will be able to see an updated photo of Sunset every five minutes. Third, the extended forecast is now available to members only. The main purpose of these changes is to provide encouragement and support to all visitors, while rewarding members with information that is not readily available elsewhere.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Merry Christmas! Here is your present from me: I have just completed the installation and setup of a brand new Windows 2000 Server for the surfcam and I have successfully upgraded to the Enterprise version of IVista's Professional Webcasting software. As those of your with surfcam access will see, performance has been radically improved. Not only is the quality of the stream far better (as well as the regularly uploaded pics), but the frame rate is also higher. Enjoy! (Next step will be installation of a higher resolution network camera, some time in 2003.)

WATER QUALITY BOARD MEETING
A very important decision will be made by the Water Quality Control Board this month - how much bacteria will we allow in our surf? The Water Board will decide how often the concentrations of bacteria are allowed to exceed health standards. The Water Board's decision will set precedents for limiting bacteria in coastal waters throughout California and the entire country. Shelley Luce of Heal the Bay has written a letter for all Sunset Surfers. Please click here to read her comments and find out how to get involved.
