LA TIMES CLAIMS SUNSET IS THE 10TH WORST BEACH IN L.A.
Don't worry, it's not true. It stems from an error in Heal The Bay's Beach Report Card that came out yesterday. The report lists Sunset Blvd. and PCH at Santa Ynez drain as the #10 Beach Bummer. I suspect they actually meant Castlerock Storm Drain at Castle Rock Beach. The LA Times further amplified this error today, stating that Sunset at PCH is the 10th worst beach in L.A. I'm trying to get them both to fix their errors.

TRIBUTE TO EDDIE, LONG TIME SUNSET SURFER
A long time Sunset surfer has passed on. Eddie Ramey, age 53, passed away of cancer last week. Eddie was part of the old 70s Sunset Point crew, along with myself -- Mark Jojola -- and Merle Marquez, Everette McGrath, Dave Dedmaras, Brian Punch, Danny Omara and others. I have known Eddie since 1972. He always had a smile on his face and talked in a low tone. His bright red hair and slight build were easy to spot. He was always a good friend. I can’t ever remember him getting mad at anyone. If someone dropped in on him, he would just shrug it off and get another wave. In the last few years he was the only one of the old crew I ever saw. Eddie was my friend and I will miss him. There will be a paddle out for him in couple of weeks and I will let all know. --Mark Jojola
