For the past few weeks, surfers have been witnessing sharks swimming and breaching on a daily basis in the Sunset Bay. Please exercise caution during this period of frequent shark sightings. Click below for more details.

Two independent shark sightings at Sunset were witnessed by surfers on the morning of 7/16/09. One was at 8:30 am at the point in front of the Gladstones parking lot. The second was at 11:15 am in front of the lifeguard tower. Click below for more details:

Two surfers witnessed a shark breaching completely out of the water around 7 am this morning. The shark was estimated to be about 7 - 8 feet in length.

A surfer at Sunset reported the following on Friday, July 3rd: "Shark sighting today at sunset 7.45am - medium spinner shark breached 2/300 feet off the dos banos. Didn't see it again, beautiful sight! We kept surfing till the hi-tide at 8.45ish"

A surfer reported witnessing a shark kill a bird near the point at Sunset around 6 am on May, 23rd. The shark was approximately 6-7' in length. Visit the Shark Sightings Page for more details.
