The annual party for SunsetSurf.com members is set for Saturday, September 24th at The Reel Inn, located directly across the PCH from Topanga State Beach.

From 7pm to 10pm, the outdoor patio at The Reel Inn will be reserved for the enjoyment of SunsetSurf.com members. This is your chance to meet fellow members, swap surf stories, grab some fish tacos or other tasty seafood dishes, and enjoy live music by Dockweiler Jones. Plus, as happens every year, one lucky member will win a new surfboard — courtesy of yours truly, in appreciation of your support. This year's prize could well be the most perfect Sunset board ever, a brand new Sunova Tanker. Inspired by the classic "Phil Edwards" style, the Tanker is the brainchild of legendary shaper Bert Berger. Wrapped in balsa wood, with parabolic balsa rails, this board is truly the ultimate cruiser — solid enough to easily walk the nose and fast enough to beat any section, but also light enough to pull off high-performance moves.

The surfboard giveaway will take place around 8:45 pm, so make sure you arrive before then to get your raffle ticket. Some other small prizes will be given away too. There is no cover charge and you're welcome to bring friends and family, but please understand it will be your responsibility to pay for any food you order at the window. (Because the Reel Inn is graciously hosting this party, they would appreciate you include a tip with your purchase. I'm sure the band would like tips too, if you feel so inclined.) Also, keep in mind that only SunsetSurf.com members whose subscriptions are active on the date of the party are eligible to win the surfboard and other prizes.

A word about parking at the Reel Inn. The lot next to the restaurant offers valet parking only. However, there is ample free parking in the lot directly to the north where an old motel used to operate. There is also free street parking on the shoulder of the PCH. If you can carpool with friends, that's always a good idea --- just make sure you have a means of bringing home a new surfboard, in case you are the lucky winner!
